Fish Heads and Karaoke

The afternoon was spent at Hiroshima International University Pharmacy School. We were given an introductory lecture from Dr. Tsukamoto. In between the lectures we had tea and pastries. The pastries are filled with sweet red bean paste.

After class, it was off to dinner. Now I had been in Japan for 48 hours and still hadn't had seafood. Since I love seafood, sushi, etc. I was a little sad... but this dinner made up for it.

First I ordered a pineapple wine spritzer.  Didn't realize, I'd be squeezing my own pineapple juice. This was slightly more difficult than squeezing an orange. Haha.

Next was the appetizers. Miso soup, cheese, salad and fried tofu.

Then the main course. Tons of seafood and chicken skewers. All of the fish was very fresh. Haha as you can see.

I even tried these chicken nuggets resembling things, it was very crunchy. Turns of it was bone cartilage, that will be my first and last attempt of eating that, lol. The food seemed never ending... the waitress kept bringing mountains of sushi. I was in heaven!

After dinner, it was time for karaoke.

Now karaoke in Japan is not in a bar setting. Groups of friends go to karaoke centers and rent private rooms. Here you can play all you songs in order...not waiting on other groups to go first.

Songs from the evening included: Don't Stop Believing, Bohemian Rhapsody, I Did It My Way, a Japanese  duo ballot, Don't Speak...to name a few. It was so much fun.

After it was all done, it was time to return to the dorms to sleep... almost recovered from my jetlag.

Chat soon,

  1. There was a fish with its eyes still open on your table! You must make me that pineapple drink when you get home.
