On the Move to Osaka

Travel Week in Japan has begun! First stop Osaka. We had more Okonomiyaki. My favorite dish in Japan. One was smothered with avocado sauce and the other was the original style. In Osaka, they do not add noodles to this dish, unlike in Hiroshima.

Next stop was the Osaka Castle. It is lined with a large mote and stone wall. The wall is angled in order to make it difficult for ninjas to scale the walls.

Once inside the gate, there was beautiful stone markers and cherry blossoms.
Then you reached the castle.

After this, we went to the Dōtonbori River. In the past, the fans of the Japanese baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers, would jump into the river, if the team lost. However, people would get hurt or drown, so this practice was outlawed. Now, its a ongoing Osaka joke.

The last stop in Osaka was for some deep-fried goodness! This is a DARUMA Dotonbori, a famous restaurant in Osaka, known for its kushikatsu (fried food on a stick). They call it Osaka soul food. You dip the stick of meat and veggies into a community pot of special sauce. Double dipping is not just frowned upon, its forbidden. You will be asked to leave immediately if caught doing so

Now back on the train... Talk about crowded!!!
